The majority of 486 PC’ s and below will revert back to the year 1900 because of the "Millennium Bug" inside their RTC (Real Time Clock) chip. The problem has been there since "BIG BLUE" (IBM) released their IBM PC/AT in 1981. It means that at the turn of the century, these PC’ s will never go past the year 2000, and will revert back to the year 1900. Unfortunately, the year 2000 is a leap year, and the year 1900 is not!
The "Fix-It Y2K" (FI-Y2K) card is specially designed to fix this problem. With its onboard 10-year data retention Real Time Clock chip, and intelligent ROM BIOS, it provides an absolute confident solution for upgrading these PC’ s to the year 2000 and beyond.
The FI-Y2K card also provides some advanced features, these being a CMOS backup feature that will allow software companies and VAR’ s to never worry about problems with CMOS settings due to mistakes by end users. This feature also prevents viruses from damaging your CMOS data. Consequently, this should save on service costs and also allow your PC’ s to be more reliable.
Some VAR’ s or PC integrators need to setup all PC’ s to the same date, time, and other CMOS settings. The FI-Y2k card provides a feature to setup the whole data of the PC, simply plug the
FI-Y2K card into the PC slot and then turn the PC power on. This feature will save a lot of engineering time and therefore save on overall cost.
This Card has been designed to resolve hardware issues at the BIOS level. However, with regard to software problems these would remain with the software developers.
